Images, audio and scanning
Photos
- Tap + in the editor's bottom bar and choose Image.
- In the Add Photo dialog, pick Take Photo, Select Image, or one of the two scanning options below.
Images sit at the top of the note in a grid, and also show as thumbnails on the note's card in your list.
Scanning text out of a photo
If you photographed a page, a receipt or a whiteboard, Timeline can read the text out of it for you.
- Choose Scan Text Using Camera to photograph the page, or Scan Text From Photo to pick one you already took.
- Timeline recognises the text and shows it to you.
- Then choose how to bring it in: Import as multiple text blocks keeps the line breaks as separate paragraphs, or Import as single text block joins it into one.
Scanning recognises 53 languages across the Latin, Chinese, Devanagari, Japanese and Korean scripts.
Audio
- Tap + and choose Audio.
- In the Add Audio dialog, choose Record Audio or Choose Audio File.
To record:
- Tap the round microphone button to start. A timer runs while you talk.
- While recording you can pause, discard with the bin, or save with the tick.
Microphone permission. If Timeline cannot reach your microphone it will say so and offer to open your system settings, where you can allow Record Audio.
Playing and managing attachments
- Audio plays back in place, straight from the note.
- Each attachment can be shared, exported on its own, or deleted — deleting asks you to confirm.
- Tap an image to open it full screen. Pinch or double-tap to zoom, drag to pan, and use the menu to share, export, delete or scan text out of it.
You can also share photos, recordings and web pages into Timeline from any other app — see Create, update and delete.
