Reminders

A reminder is a note about a time. It can stand on its own or be attached to a note, and it can repeat on a schedule.

Allow notifications. On Android 13 and newer, open the Reminders screen and tap Request permission until notifications are enabled, or Timeline cannot reach you.

Creating one

  1. Open the drawer and tap Reminders, then the bell button — or open a note and use its reminder button.
  2. In the Set a Reminder dialog, give it a Title and, if you want one, a description. When you start from a note, the title is filled in for you.
  3. Choose a Date: Today, Tomorrow, Next Week, or Pick Date for anything else.
  4. Choose a Time: Morning (8:00), Afternoon (2:00 pm), Evening (6:00 pm), Night (8:00 pm), or Pick Time.
  5. Set Repeat if you need it, then tap Set.

Repeating

The repeat menu offers None, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly and Custom.

Custom opens a dialog where you can be precise:

  • Repeats every— a number and a unit, so every 3 weeks works. Hourly is available here, though not in the quick menu.
  • For Weekly, a row of day chips picks which days it fires on.
  • For Monthly, choose between Same day of the next month and Same date of the next month.
  • Until decides when it stops: Forever, Until Date, or Until Events for a set number of times.

The button then reads what it will do — Repeats weekly on Mon,Wed, Repeats until 03 Oct, Repeats for 5 events— so you can check it without opening anything.

The reminders list

The drawer takes you to every reminder you have, whether or not it belongs to a note.

  • Each row shows the reminder, when it is next due, and an Open Note button if it is attached to one.
  • The bin on a row deletes that reminder; you are asked to confirm.
  • Long-press to select several and delete them together.

When one fires

  • The notification is titled with the reminder and shows its description. Tapping it opens the reminder, and from there the note if there is one.
  • A reminder that does not repeat gets two buttons: Done, and Later to push it back.
  • How long Later waits is up to you — see Appearance and settings.
  • Reminders are re-armed when you restart your phone, so you do not lose them to a reboot.

Editing and deleting

Open a reminder to change it and tap Update. The same dialog has a Delete button; deleting asks you to confirm first.
