Appearance and settings

Open Settings from the menu at the top right of your note list, or from the navigation drawer. A banner at the top of the screen warns that the app may need restarting after a change.

Light and dark

Dark Theme in User Interface is a single switch that cycles through three states as you tap it: System→ Dark→ Light→ and back. The label under it tells you where you are. Left on System, Timeline follows your phone.

Material You, right underneath, tints the app with your wallpaper colours on Android 12 and newer.

What the drawer shows

  • Notebooks In Drawer— show your notebooks as a section with their counts. On by default.
  • Tags In Drawer— do the same for tags. Off by default, which leaves Tags as a single drawer entry.
  • Notebooks Before Tags— which of those two sections comes first.

General

  • Reading Notebook— the notebook that Copy As Note files things into.
  • Model Details— technical information about your notes, for when you are reporting a problem.

Notifications

Snooze Time sets how many minutes Later waits on a reminder notification before it fires again. Fifteen minutes by default.

Automation

Auto Delete empties anything more than a month old out of the Trash. On by default. See Archive, pin and color.

Sync and backups

Sync Enabled, Google Drive Backup, Backups Limit, Backup Frequency and Local Backups are all covered in Account, sync and backup.

Calendar

Calendar in your note list's menu shows your reminders alongside the events on your device's calendar, so you can see a day's commitments in one place.

  1. Grant the calendar permission when Timeline asks — without it you will see nothing.
  2. Use the switches in the side panel to choose which of Calendar Events, Note Events, Reminder Events, Notebook Events and Tag Events to show.
