Drawing
A note can hold drawings. They use the same drawing engine as Sketchable, so if you have used that app you will know your way around.
Starting a drawing
- Tap + in the editor's bottom bar and choose Sketch. Confirm with Add.
- Or use the painting button on the bottom of your note list to go straight to a blank drawing.
The toolbar
- The leftmost button switches tools: Select, Paint Bucket, Eyedropper, Rect Select, Lasso and Navigate. Freehand drawing is what the button returns to.
- + adds a Text or Image layer.
- The brush button opens the brush list — round, eraser, rectangle, ellipse, polygon and line — and then that brush's own settings, such as its scale.
- The palette opens the colour panel.
- The mirror button draws a reflected copy of your stroke, with options for the axis, whether it follows zoom and pan, and how far it sits from the centre.
- Undo and Redo are in the top bar, alongside a button that resets the zoom.
Layers
Layers in the top-bar menu opens the layer panel. From there you can add layers, see a thumbnail of each, hide and lock them, reorder them by dragging, and rename or delete them.
Drawing settings
Settings in the top-bar menu has three tabs.
- General— the canvas background colour.
- Grid— a Dot Grid, Graph Paper, Lined Paper or Isometric guide, with horizontal and vertical spacing and a line weight.
- Zoom— whether the on-canvas zoom controls are shown.
Saving
Tap the back arrow when you are done. Timeline asks whether to save the sketch, and the bin in that dialog throws it away instead. A saved sketch is stored in the note as a picture.
You cannot open a saved drawing again to keep editing it, and drawings cannot be exported from this screen. Use Sketchable for work you want to keep changing.
