Account, sync and backup

Timeline works entirely on its own with no account. Signing in with a Wiqis account is what lets the same notes show up on your other devices.

Signing in

1. Open the menu at the top right of your note list and choose Account.
2. Sign in with your Wiqis account, or tap Click here next to Don't have an account? to create one.

Timeline syncs as soon as you sign in.

Your account

Once you are signed in, Account offers:

• Edit Profile— your name, username, email and description.
• Security— change your password and check your email verification.
• Premium Subscription— see below.
• Sign-out.

Timeline will prompt you to verify your email and set a password if you have not already.

How syncing works

You do not have to do anything. Timeline syncs on its own roughly every hour when it has a connection, and whenever you pull down to refresh your list.

• Changes you make are saved locally first, so the app never blocks on the network.
• Notes, notebooks, tags and reminders all sync.
• Deletes sync too — a note removed on one device is removed on the others, and comes back if you restore it from the Trash.

To force it, choose Sync Now from your note list's menu. Timeline will ask you to wait a few minutes if you have just synced.

What does not sync

• Attachments. Photos, recordings and drawings stay on the device that captured them, unless you are a Premium member.
• Calendar permissions and anything else that belongs to your phone rather than your notes.

Turn attachment syncing on with Sync Enabled in Settings.

Backups

Backups are a second safety net, separate from sync. They live in Backup Restore in Settings.

• Local Backups— Create makes a zip on this device; Import restores one. Each backup can also be saved out to a file or deleted.
• Google Drive Backup— turn this on and Timeline uploads your backups to your Drive instead of keeping them only here.
• Backups Limit— how many online backups to keep, from 5 to 10.
• Backup Frequency— how often to make one, from every day to every fortnight.

Premium

Premium Subscription in your account offers three things:

• Remove Ads— no more ads.
• Sync Data With Cloud— notes and attachments backed up to Wiqis servers and synced across devices.
• Translate Notes— read your notes in another language.

Premium is billed weekly, monthly, or in longer stretches up to a year, and you can cancel from the same screen. It also unlocks drawing and read-aloud — see Text, links and checklists— and sharing notes with other people by email.
