Drawing on a map

A mind map and a drawing live side by side in 123Mind: the map holds your structure, and a set of sketch layers sits on top of it. Both have their own version history.

Entering and leaving paint mode

  • Tap the brush icon in the editor's top bar to enter paint mode.
  • Tap the 123Mind logo icon in the top bar to go back to the map.
  • Ctrl/Cmd + E toggles between the two.

Tools

The paint-mode bottom bar gives you:

  • Select— move, scale and rotate layers.
  • Paint Bucket— fill an area with the current colour.
  • Eyedropper— pick a colour off the canvas.
  • Rect Select and Lasso— select many layers at once.
  • Navigate— pan and zoom without drawing.
  • The + button adds a Text or Image layer.
  • The pencil edits a selected text layer.
  • The brush opens the Brush Panel; the eraser switches between the eraser and the round brush; the palette opens the Colors Panel.

Brushes

The brush panel lists Round Brush, Eraser, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon and Line. Tap one to open its properties, where you set size, opacity, spacing and colour.

Layers

Find Layers in the editor's overflow menu while in paint mode. From there you can add, delete, reorder, rename, hide and change the opacity and blend mode of each layer.

Mirroring

The mirror button draws a reflected copy of your stroke as you draw, which is useful for symmetry.

  • Tap once to switch mirroring on, and again to open its options.
  • Axis chooses Vertical or Horizontal.
  • Follow Zoom/Pan keeps the axis fixed to the canvas as you move around.
  • Offset from Centre moves the axis away from the middle.
  • Toggle Mirror flips which side is mirrored.

A drawing can be exported on its own as an SVG vector — see Export and share. That exports the sketch, not the map.
