Editing nodes

Tap a node to select it. A small toolbar appears under it, and a More Options button on the right opens the full menu. The bottom bar holds the actions you will use most.

Adding and editing

  • Add left and Add right in the bottom bar create a sibling beside the selected node. On the central node, they create the first child on either side.
  • Edit (the pencil) starts editing the node's text. The button becomes a checkmark while you type; tap it to finish.
  • Tap the central node and start typing to name the map.

Navigation Like controls. In the editor's Settings, under General> Controls, turn on Navigation Like to replace the add and edit buttons with up, down, left, right and edit — closer to how a keyboard works.

Deleting

  • The bin button in the bottom bar deletes the node and everything under it.
  • Delete w/o children in More Options removes just the node and re-attaches its children to its parent.
  • With several nodes selected, the bar at the bottom of the screen deletes all of them at once.

Rearranging

  • Move up and Move down change a node's order among its siblings.
  • Promote lifts a node up one level, so it becomes a sibling of its former parent.
  • Demote pushes a node down one level, making it a child of the sibling above.
  • Group and Ungroup collapse a branch into a single node, and expand it again.
  • View Children and Hide Children fold a branch away without deleting anything.

Free positioning

  • Detach pulls a node and its branch off the tree, so you can place it anywhere.
  • Attach back puts it where it came from.
  • Move freely stores a manual offset for a node. It is available in the Canvas mapper.
  • Reset position puts every freely-positioned node back on the tree.

Selecting several nodes

  • Select multiple switches to tap-to-toggle selection.
  • Select subtree adds everything below the node in one go.
  • The bottom bar then reads how many nodes are selected and offers Delete, Collapse, Expand, Bold, Italic and Plain.

Clipboard

  • Copy copies the selected node, or the whole selection.
  • Paste puts a copied node back in. On the central node you get Paste Left and Paste Right so you can choose a side.
  • Copy to clipboard and Paste from clipboard move nodes between different maps.

Every one of these actions can be undone.
