Export and import

Exporting

From the editor's menu:

  • Export .sketchable
  • Export PNG
  • Export PDF

From the gallery, select one or more drawings and use the same options — the menu there reads Export .sketchables, plural, and adds Combined PDF when you have picked more than one.

Choosing a format

  • Sketch— Sketchable's own format. It keeps every stroke as vectors along with your layers, images and fonts, and can be imported back into the app. This is the one to use if you might want to keep editing.
  • PDF— a document.
  • Combined PDF— several drawings into one document.
  • PNG and JPEG, plus WEBP on Android 11 and newer. The desktop app also offers BMP, GIF, TIFF and WBMP.

Image and PDF options

The export dialog previews your drawing and lets you fine-tune the output:

  • Origin To Center Of Drawing centres the content rather than starting from the corner — available on an infinite canvas.
  • Auto Size sizes the output to the drawing. Turn it off to set the size yourself.
  • Width and Height, in pixels.
  • Scale multiplies the resolution, from 0.1 up to 8.
  • Offset X and Offset Y shift the content inside the frame.
  • Rotation turns it, all the way round.

With several drawings selected, numbered buttons above the preview let you set each one up separately.

On Android, Sketchable asks you to pick a folder to export into the first time.

Importing

Bring your own files back in from the gallery's menu:

  1. Open the gallery's menu and choose Import .sketchables.
  2. Select one or more files.

Only Sketchable files can be imported. PNG, JPEG and PDF are for using your drawing elsewhere, not for coming back into the app.

Export before you clear your gallery. There is no cloud copy of your work, so a Sketchable file is the only way to move a drawing between devices or keep a backup.

SVG export is not available yet. Use Export .sketchable if you need to keep the vectors.
