Selecting and transforming

Choosing what to select

  • Select— tap an item to grab the one on top. Tap the same spot again to work your way down through anything stacked underneath. Dragging a selected item moves it.
  • Rect Select— drag a box. Everything it touches is selected.
  • Lasso— draw a loop around what you want.
  • Dragging on empty canvas in Select mode also draws a selection box.

Rect and Lasso both cut freehand strokes where the boundary crosses them, so you can lift one piece out of the middle of a stroke.

What you can do with a selection

A box with handles appears around what you caught:

  • The corner handle moves the selection.
  • The handle at the bottom corner rotates it.
  • Images and text also get five resize handles — corners scale both ways, the middle handles scale or nudge one direction at a time.

Select more than one item and they move together.

Finishing

Tap the tick in the top bar, or the close icon, to put the selection down. Everything else in the toolbar goes back to normal.

Only images and text can be transformed. Freehand strokes and shapes cannot be selected and moved once drawn — you can recolour them with the Paint Bucket, or erase them, but not reposition them.
