Text and images

Adding text

  1. Tap + in the toolbar and choose Text.
  2. A sheet opens with the text field already focused. Type your text.
  3. Adjust it on either tab, then dismiss the sheet.

Dismissing the sheet without typing anything removes the text layer again.

Once a text layer is selected, the + button becomes a pencil that reopens the same sheet.

Font options

  • Text— the words themselves.
  • Text Shadow— a row of samples; pick one, or the plain "no shadow" sample.
  • Text Font— every font installed on your device, shown as samples of the same words. The gear at the start is the system default.
  • Text Size— a slider, small to very large.
  • Italic, strikethrough and underline toggles, plus a Font Weight button running from Thin to Extra Bold.
  • The button on the tab row cycles alignment: left, centre, right.
  • The eye button turns a small live preview on and off.

Colour options

  • Text— the colour of the letters. New text starts out light or dark to suit your background.
  • Background— a fill behind the text.
  • Border Radius, Padding Width and Padding Height round and space out the box around it.

Adding an image

  1. Tap + in the toolbar and choose Image.
  2. Pick a picture from your device.

On Android you can also drag an image straight from another app and drop it on the canvas. The picture is copied into Sketchable, so it keeps working even if you delete the original.

Moving things you have added

Images and text can be selected, moved, rotated and resized — see Selecting and transforming.

Freehand strokes cannot be moved or resized once drawn. If a stroke is in the wrong place, undo it or erase it.
